SKorea approves WHO medicine shipment to NKorea (AP)

SEOUL, South Korea ? South Korea has lifted its block on donating medicine to North Korea via the World Health Organization, amid signs of easing tensions between the countries.

South Korea previously donated to a WHO program to send medicine and medical supplies to the North. It asked the organization to suspend the contribution after Pyongyang allegedly torpedoed a South Korean warship last year. Pyongyang denies any role in the sinking.

The South Korean government said Tuesday that it has accepted WHO’s request for using its remaining donation totaling about $7 million.

There have been recent glimmers of hope on the Korean peninsula, with diplomats seeking to restart nuclear disarmament talks and Seoul easing restrictions on civilian travel to the North.

How To Benefit From HR Outsourcing

As an integral part of any organization?s infrastructure, the human resources department handles payrolls, benefits, trainings, legal issues and other important employee-related operations. It manages and takes care of a company?s most valuable assets, or its people, by giving them support, guidance and appreciation.

Many organizations have moved into the digital age and tried to cut costs by using HR outsourcing firms to conduct their human resources functions. These firms offer similar, if not the same, services as physical human resources departments do, but with much cheaper operational expenses.

If organizations want certain human resources functions done without having to support an entire department, then they should consider hiring an HR outsourcing firm. Although the concept is new, it can offer many benefits.

Relief of HR Duties

HR outsourcing is especially common among small to medium firms because these firms are not established enough to support an entire department but still needs to administer and tend to its employees.

By outsourcing, firms are relieved of certain HR responsibilities, especially one-time duties such as creating an employee handbook, and spend more time focusing on growing their businesses.

Selective Services

Human resources do not have to be one-size-fits-all. Many outsourcing firms offer their services in a broken-down schema as well as a combined package. These services include hiring new talents, employee and management training, employee relations, benefits and payroll administration and employee orientation programs. Most outsourcing firms provide such flexible purchasing model that allows customers to pick and choose individual or a combination of services. This way, clients get what they need without paying for extras.

Reduce Cost

In addition to selling selective services, outsourcing firms save companies a lot of money by cutting labor fees and other pertinent costs such as health benefits, insurance and legal expenses. Plus, companies do not need a physical space to house a virtual team. In other words, outsourcing firms get the job done without affecting a company?s long-term overhead.

Efficiency

With a team of experienced professionals, outsourcing firms have streamlined their job to focus strictly on human resources issues. They are not apart of an organization, they only work for the organization and their concern is solely to provide the best services. This makes outsourcing extremely efficient, because while they manage themselves, they also provide productive results.

Plus, they take over some cumbersome and time-consuming responsibilities that managers otherwise must do, including unemployment claims, worker?s compensation and tax filings.

Employee Satisfaction

Many small to large firms bypass having an HR department to save money. This makes managers take on extra tasks and makes employees feel unappreciated. By hiring a third party to undertake human resource responsibilities, firms can still save costs by alleviating managers? workload while providing employee satisfaction.
